I think this is the biggest crime in the world to kill someone purposely. As every intellectual person know, what would be the result when you don't treat someone and just depend on pray and think it will cure the patient. over the past 25 years there have been over 150 reported deaths of children whose parents chose to rely on faith healing rather than medicine. In the U.S. values religious freedom to the point where states are willing to grant parents the right to refuse even life-saving medical treatments for their children if the parents can show that there’s a religious tenet that would be violated by administering the treatment. Many natural birth advocates (doulas, midwives, birth educators) say that delivery of newborns in the U.S. is "overmedicated" by the hospitals' doctors and nurses. Some unnecessary procedures are forced on the mom and baby that have little scientific basis. United States C-Section rates for delivery are ridiculous, when compared to other developed countries. Should parents have zero say in that? Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
My point is doing the best with the kid's life. Parents have the right to treat their children well including giving medicine or not according to their beliefs, but there is nothing if the children are not alive. Again, there is NOTHING without children alive. Side: Convict Hermansons of crime

patients in the last stage of any diseases is miserable weak. Medicine taking in this case can torture them not helping them. instead of seeing kids suffer the pain from the medicine effect for the last few months or days, I think kids rather to rest in peace Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
According to Universal Declaration of human rights of UN, All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection as medical care, necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of sickness, disability or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control. The parent could just send their child to the doctor and faith heal while using the medicine, but they ignored a practice that is proven to work. Despite my faith in god, the medicine is already proved but their praying cannot be proven immediately when their daughter was about to die. Side: Convict Hermansons of crime

Parents also have the right to use or not to use some medicine for their children. Moreover, medicine or drugs always contain side affect. There is not absolute in the treatment in any kind of diseases. In this case, Amy was already in the last stage of her diabetes when they recognized that somethings wrong with her.. So using medicine in this time only lengthening her life a little bit, but kill her mind slowly. i think her parents decided to keep her mind strong in her weak body by praying is the right decision. Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
We do not have any idea of the family's decision, also I am focusing on the cases like this. I do know about the side effects of drugs, but my point is doing the best with the kid's life. Parents have the right to treat their children well including giving medicine or not according to their beliefs, but there is nothing if the children are not alive. Side: Convict Hermansons of crime

The first Amendment of the Constitution of the United State: Freedom of religion. It means that they are following and doing what they believe. Most of religions guide their followers to be a good person. Parents always want good things for their kids. Also, Hermansons family thought that following the religion rules is good for their children. So I don't think it's a crime. Parents sometimes make mistakes, they are all humans. Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
The parents and their daughter both have their rights to freedom of thought and religion. The parents cannot force to their kids to believe the faith they trust, which might bring their kids' death. Also, the death is the mistake without the chance to be fixed. Side: Convict Hermansons of crime

I don't think medicine is everything. It's just a small part of the treatment. if you use medicine without eating healthy or exercise, it's not working. SO people died because of not live a healthy life, not because they don't use medicine Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
Human beings found the disease called diabetes which found in modern days, but the scientists know why it comes and how it works in body. They'll find the way at last. There are no proof or evidences of curing diabetes with the faith. Praying and believing in god help the patients' attitude, it might work with chemicals, but medical systems can fix it and it is proved. Plus, I feel sorry about Amy but we need to prevent the cases like this in the future. We should not make more Amys. Side: Convict Hermansons of crime

US Constitution Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. It was parents belief of god might also belief of the daughter's too. Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
In 1988, the national office of the American Civil Liberties Union made the following statement regarding state religious exemption laws: Children have rights too, and parents have certain rights which end when they intrude too far into a child's right to live...the parent's right to bring up the child in the way the parent thinks best-an important right...ends at the point at which the parents' actions endanger the lives of kids...there cannot be in our view a religious exemption no matter how sincere a parent's belief... Amy was a straight A student. So I believe she had her own opinion. About her education grade, it's also tell that her parents taught her the right way. I don't think her parents forced her to follow their believe. their parents only mistake is spoiled her to let her eat whatever she wanted, unhealthy lifestyle, not unhealthy religion. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28 those conventional medicines are considered sin. No believer want to sin their kids soul so they can not have eternal life Side: Hermansons actions not a crime

Romans 14:8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. John 11:26 And everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. death is not an end. so why are we punishing? Side: Hermansons actions not a crime
